Royal Wootton Bassett is a very special place to live. It is also growing, the Town Council Planning Committee's role is to keep a check on planning applications and to forward their recommendations or objections to Wiltshire Council. It is Wiltshire Council who make the final decision.

The Planning Committee meets in addition to a scheduled Council meeting, to discuss any plans that have been called in. A planning application is called in when Councillors have concerns about any negative effects the application may have on things such as road safety, neighbouring properties or the town in general. They may also call it in based on concerns of a constituent. People need homes and Royal Wootton Bassett has continued to provide its fair share of these with many new builds. The Planning Committee works hard to ensure that this does not become a free-for-all, overburdening our schools.

Agenda, minutes, decisions for Planning Meetings can be found on this website.
